Practice makes perfect for designer Derek Lam, whose fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection was nothing short of flawless.  Conservative silhouettes floated down the runway flaunting chiefly monotone hues with unexpected sparks of color, peaking out of elegantly draped garments of cashmere, leather and silk.  Having pulled his inspiration from Tibetan tapestries and Buddhist coverings, each look maintained the sophisticated construction found similarly in the designer’s previous collections. The mostly mid-length styles, oversized and neatly tailored, were both cutting-edge and timeless, much like the designer himself.
